Japanese Government Gives Chheang Vun Senior National Medal

PHNOM PENH: The Royal Government of Japan, through its Embassy in Cambodia presented the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star medals to the Chairman of the National Assembly Committee on Economy, Finance, Banking and Auditing and Chairman of the Cambodia-Japan National Assembly Friendship Group Mr. Chheang Vun on 29 March 2022 Yesterday.

The handover ceremony was held at the Residence of the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia by the Ambassador of Japan Mr. MIKAMI Masahiro and presented directly to Mr. Chheang Vun.

Mr. MIKAMI Masahiro stated that the award was given because Mr. Chheang Vun took care to strengthen the friendship, solidarity and good cooperation between the Cambodian and Japanese.

Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Economy, Finance, Banking and Auditing and Chairman of the Cambodia-Japan National Assembly Friendship Group, Mr. Chheang Vun stated that the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star did not come because of him alone and there are many others who deserve it, as they have supported and actively participated in his efforts to support his work.

He expressed his gratitude to the King of Cambodia and the Queen Mother of Cambodia, President of the Senate, Say Chhum, President of the National Assembly, Heng Samrin, Prime Minister Hun Sen and other top leaders, as well as their families, for their support and trust him has contributed to the development of the nation.

The Chairman of the Second Committee of the National Assembly also thanked the friendly countries and the international community, especially Japan, for providing valuable potential for Cambodia. In addition, he expressed his gratitude for the supportive gestures and support of the Royal Government and the people of Japan who have participated in the reconstruction of the Kingdom of Cambodia, ensuring the improvement of social, economic, good governance and infrastructure in many other public services.

He added: "This medal is very important to emphasize the good relations, bilateral cooperation between our two countries in the past, and also continue to strengthen and expand relations to achieve more new achievements."
